HDC Active Yoga: The Merchati Salutation

Hanson Dodge Creative - Active YogaAs an active lifestyle company we are committed to encouraging our team to stay active and fit. Earlier in the year, a number of our team expressed interest in having a Hanson Dodge Yoga class. As it turns out, in addition to my Project Management background, I am also a yoga instructor. So, in March of this year, I offered to teach an onsite class – our HDC Active Yoga program.

A small group of our team members have been joining me on Thursdays at noon to practice Hatha yoga. We welcome anyone who wants to join, whether it is a staff member or client visiting for the day. Some days we concentrate on loosening up, some days it is about stress relief; other times, it is mental and physical relaxation.

We practice many yoga asana (poses) and many traditional flows, including the sun salutations and the moon salutations. Flows in yoga are a series of asana that are done one after another in succession with the intent of creating a physical effect.

As we progressed we wanted to occasionally have a class that was energizing and helped us gather our strength. As a guide, I created what I call the “Merchati Salutation,” after the Sanskrit word “merchati” which means “gather strength.” The Merchati Salutation is a series of 37 asana using many of the warrior poses.

We all feel that this flow is very energizing and wanted to share it with you so that you can benefit from the energizing effects off this yoga flow.

Here is the Merchati Salutation.

    Hi,
Yoga is beneficial for the health in ways that modern science is just beginning to understand. Even though it has been applied with therapeutic intention for thousand of years, Yoga Therapy is only just now emerging as a discipline in itself.
More health care practitioners are starting to include yogic techniques in their approach to healing — and more yoga teachers give a therapeutic intention to their teaching. People who have never tried yoga before are startingto consider including Yoga in their treatment plan.
As science begins to document the importance of understanding the interrelation of all existing things, it looks to Yoga with an intrigued eye, for Yoga speaks Unity in every word. As yoga techniques are researched and new data is gathered,it becomes easier for science and the medical establishment to understand and accept the benefits of Yoga Therapy.Yet there is still not one consensual definition of the discipline.
In order to arrive to an adequate definition and to come up with proper standards for Yoga Therapy, it is crucial at this early stage to properly address some delicate professional and ethical issues. At the same time it is important to educate the general public about Yoga Therapy’s benefits and careful use. so this article will really helpful to me..

bipolar is when you go through episodes of manic depression and manic normal/excitement. You have extreme highs and lows. Take for instance Robin Williams… he is bipolar and does his greatest work when he is in a manic period (obviouly the high manic period and not the depressive manic).
